As the PSG looks forward to its 25th anniversary in 2026, we are also reflecting on another busy year of updates, maintenance and new additions to our suites of documents.
We started the year with the publication of our long-awaited Subleases of Whole in January. The two styles cater for when the head lease is in the style of the PSG leases and when a non PSG style head lease is in place.
The Group’s main objective is to produce robust and reliable documents for the profession to use. With that goal in mind, we regularly review our documents and update and improve these where we can. We are indebted to colleagues in other firms and organisations who have suggested changes to our styles from time to time. We always give careful consideration to these suggestions and are genuinely grateful to all those who so willingly engage with us.
March saw the updating of a number of our standard documents: changes were made to our Offers, Licences for Works, the DDQ and various lease management documents, along with some changes to the Certificate of Title to reflect the changes made by the CLLS. This was followed in April by updates to the Multi-use Disposition, letter of consent to assignation and Tripartite Licence for Works. In June we amended our offers to sell to make provision for the Moveable Transactions (Scotland) Act 2023.
However, our major project of the year involved updating the entire suite of Leases to bring them into line with version 1.8a of the Model Commercial Leases. These were published in August and updated in December to deal with inevitable typos and to ensure consistency across the suite.
In November, we completed our suite of Subleases with the publication of two Subleases of Part, again one for a PSG compatible head lease and one for other forms of head lease.
Our final publications of the year were three new Food and Drink leases with turnover provisions, based on the new additions to the MCL suite of leases published earlier in the year.
Looking back on 2025, we are as busy as we have ever been: interim meetings between our usual quarterly meetings have become a regular feature in our calendar, to deal with regular maintenance and updates. Looking forward to 2026, we are excited to be celebrating 25 years of service to the profession and planning to mark our anniversary in a number of ways. As the year draws to a close we wish all our users and contributors a happy and joyful festive period and thank you all for your continuing support.
